The title of the video was “Why Crocodiles are thriving in the shadow of a nuclear plant”. STOP THAT! STOP THAT RIGHT NOW! If there was ever a great time to interfere with nature, that is the exact right time. Are they getting smarter? Faster? STRONGER?? I should just watch the video. Or maybe not and just have my brain think up all sorts of terrible scenarios? That’s always fun and exciting. UPDATE: Sooo. I watched the video. Turns out it is an amazingly positive video about an endangered species being brought back from the brink. Now I feel like a jerk. I should have known better than to jump to conclusions, especially since it was a video by PBS.

It’s murder out there…
In the new Baker & Tate mystery, Ruth faces a sniper’s deadly game on a remote desert highway where escape is impossible and survival is uncertain.
Texas Ranger Ruth Baker thought she’d seen everything — until travelers start turning up dead along an isolated stretch of highway, victims of a group of snipers who strike without warning and without apparent motive. Partnered with Aaron Tate, Ruth is called in to investigate the chilling case. But with no witnesses and no evidence, the killers seem to vanish into the endless desert, leaving only fear and carnage behind.
As Ruth and Tate dig deeper, they uncover ties to a death cult whose dark secrets may hold the key to the case. With each discovery, the snipers grow bolder, targeting anyone who gets too close — including Ruth herself.
In a deadly race against time, Ruth must push past her limits to stop a death cult of killers who always seem one step ahead. But on this highway, justice comes at a high cost — and not everyone will make it out alive.

The Reset
by Daniel Powell
(368 Reviews)
FREE for a limited time
A young man with a terrible secret buried deep in his chest staggers through what remains of the American South. The destruction is total — the landscape scrubbed bare by the fires of the Reset. The sun rarely penetrates the daily ash storms, and the last of the Earth’s plants and animals are slowly dying out.
And yet, there are survivors. Benjamin Stone is one of them, and he’s searching for the only person who can share his pain, another who was biologically altered at birth to become a weapon capable of bringing the world to its knees. Outside of the few supplies that sustain him in his search for a new life, he has nothing.
Nothing but a will to survive and the desire to find someplace safe — someplace better.
The Reset is a story of perseverance. It examines a future in which fragmentation and devolution have decimated society, and in which terrorism represents the final desperate attempt at shuffling the deck. With thematic elements similar to Stephen King’s The Stand and Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, it’s a post-apocalyptic story about the survivors of humanity’s cruelest intentions, and their essential impulse to rebuild.
