All this social distancing and quarantining has made me oddly more social. Before I never made it a point to call my friends, much less get on a video call, but that has all changed. Now I will jump on any screen, at any time of day to say hi to a friend. I miss my friends faces and feet. I miss the crooked smiles or the way they rocked back and forth when telling a story. I miss seeing them wear certain shoes that always made me jealous. That’s an odd one I know, but true. A friend of mine has a pair of short red boots, that I always thought were the coolest thing on the planet. She has had them for years. Not having these little things in my life has made me put priority on phones calls with friends that I wouldn’t have made before. I always put them off because talking on the phone was such a bother, and would see them in person soon anyhow. Not now. So now people hear from me more often. I am I rather enjoying it.

The Man Who Played with Fire: Stieg Larsson’s Lost Files and the Hunt for an Assassin
by Jan Stocklassa, Tara F. Chace
(1,478 Reviews)
Genre: World Literature | Biographies & Memoirs
FREE for a limited time
The author of the Millennium novels laid out the clues. Now a journalist is following them.
When Stieg Larsson died, the author of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo had been working on a true mystery that out-twisted his Millennium novels: the assassination on February 28, 1986, of Olof Palme, the Swedish prime minister. It was the first time in history that a head of state had been murdered without a clue who’d done it — and on a Stockholm street at point-blank range.
Internationally known for his fictional villains, Larsson was well acquainted with their real-life counterparts and documented extremist activities throughout the world. For years he’d been amassing evidence that linked their terrorist acts to what he called “one of the most astounding murder cases” he’d ever covered. Larsson’s archive was forgotten until journalist Jan Stocklassa was given exclusive access to the author’s secret project.
In The Man Who Played with Fire, Stocklassa collects the pieces of Larsson’s true-crime puzzle to follow the trail of intrigue, espionage, and conspiracy begun by one of the world’s most famous thriller writers. Together they set out to solve a mystery that no one else could.

Tourists of the Apocalypse
by C. F. WALLER
(130 Reviews)
Genre: Science Fiction | Science Fiction & Fantasy

Dylan Townsend stands on the beach watching commercial jets fall out of the sky like oak leaves twirling in the wind. A wing shears off the one closest to the shore just before it splashes down in the sea. Why was she telling him this outlandish story? What sort of Tourist Agency would offer people a front row seat to the end of the world? More importantly, why would anyone book such a vacation if there wasn’t any way home afterward?
“Why would anyone buy a ticket on the Titanic if they knew it was doomed?”
“Relax Dylan,” she assures him. “If you know it’s going to sink, you could bring a raft.”
As she paces in the sand watching the sky, he realizes that however wild her story may be, he loves her. Maybe Izzy is a time travel tour guide after all. In truth, he is more likely to be harmed by her boyfriend than the imminent apocalypse. What’s he going to about that sticky situation?
“Come on,” she orders, pulling on his arm. “We need to see a man about a raft.”
