Cheryl didn’t seem too surprised that her She-Shed was burning down. She was on the phone with the insurance agent saying it finally happened, they burned down her She-Shed. Who does she think burned it down? She was expecting it to happen. Sure, this time it may have been lightening like her husband said, but it sounds to me like Cheryl might be mixed up with some dark and sinister people. People who would burn down a Shed-Shed. I don’t think her husband really has a grasp on the situation here. He should be way more concerned that his wife knows people who would burn down a She-shed.

For FBI Agent Dave Armstrong justice means choosing between right and wrong, black and white, and nothing in between. There is no place in his city for criminals, and he is determined to put mob boss Carlo Peruzzo out of business. But Carlo is powerful, dangerous, and cunning, and so far has eluded Dave’s efforts to arrest him. Until Carlo’s daughter surprises Dave with an offer of help.
But things aren’t always black and white.
Marisa is a woman who operates outside the neat little box Dave has always lived in, and while he understands her need for justice, he doesn’t approve of her methods. I’m Cisco Suarez: necromancer, shadow charmer, black magic outlaw. Sounds kinda cool, doesn’t it? It was, right until I woke up half dead in a dumpster.
Did I say half dead? Because I meant 100% dead. Full on. I don’t do things halfway.
So here I am, alive for some reason, just another sunny day in Miami. It’s a perfect paradise, except I’m into something bad. Wanted by police, drenched in the stink of dark magic, nether creatures coming out of the woodwork, and don’t get me started on the Haitian voodoo gang. Trust me, it’s all fun and games until there’s a zombie pit bull on your tail.
I’m Cisco Suarez: necromancer, shadow charmer, black magic outlaw, and totally screwed.

Tablet of Destinies: Lisa Emmer Historical Thriller #2 (The Lisa Emmer Series)

JOB DESCRIPTION: DELPHIC ORACLE, CURRENTLY SERVING
TO-DOS: STOP APOCALYPSE. ASAP!
In this action-packed historical thriller, an ancient, extremely dark religion gains terrifying vitality and power, as the pieces of a 3,000-year-old Sumerian jigsaw puzzle fall into place.
A clay tablet turns up, containing a prophecy of demons, a snake goddess, and the birth of a “disruptive” miraculous child. A prophecy so dangerous the tablet was smashed to bits, and the shards scattered to all the cities of the ancient world to prevent reassembling, until a Jesuit scholar’s vision sets the prophecy in motion in Paris, where the pieces have lain for centuries, half a world and three millennia away from their source.
Yet very close to the current home of Lisa Emmer, chosen the Pythia, head of the Delphi Agenda, because of her gift of sight, and trained in ancient world studies by a mentor who promised to “teach you life”; more accurately, he might have said “teach you to save the world from evil.” Prophecy is Lisa’s bailiwick — she’s the modern-day Delphic Oracle, head of a secret organization whose purpose is to protect the world from rogue conspiracies within the Church.
Over the centuries, the Delphi Agenda has prevented the cult of Ophis Sophia from the fulfillment of their doomsday prophecy several times. Now, in a suspenseful race against an alignment of planets and comets that signals the “wondrous child’s” impending birth, Lisa speeds to find and protect the mother and child. If she’s too late, “disruption” will take on a devastating new meaning.

All I wanted was to enjoy the day in the company of a beautiful woman I’d met the night before. Then Tully came knocking. I mean, sure, she had a job. And yeah, the client looked decent enough — before he started talking about puzzle boxes and exchanges in abandoned buildings in the dead of night.
Sounds fun. Right? What could possibly go wrong?
If you’ve already answered that question, then you’re one step ahead of me. Thanks for making me look bad.
The next thing I know I’m up to my nose hairs in double-crosses, Canadian hitmen, femme fatales, and mysterious runways in the middle of nowhere. Why can’t things ever be simple — or at least involve lots of whiskey and/or double bacon cheeseburgers?
Too much to hope for? Damn. I was afraid of that.
Bottom line, it’s gonna be a long day, assuming I don’t die first.
Who am I, you ask? No one special. Just another face in the crowd, a cog in the machine, an average joe.
