I belong to a few Disney Pin trading groups on Facebook, and last night I had to temporarily turn off the new post notifications. I had to test the theory that if I did not buy that pin, would I actually die. I am happy to say that I woke up this morning. I did not die from missing out on an absolutely adorable pin. I should have known I would have trouble resisting those cute little shiny objects. I set myself up for crazy on that one. I have to say, not getting all those notifications of new pins has certainly been a relief. I almost feel like I have freedom to do so much more in my life. A huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. My gosh… they are just little pins. I really want to see more little pins. NO!!

Winner, 2010 EPIC Ebook Award for fiction in the Mainstream category.
When she was a child, the author happily identified with all the male heroes she read about in stories that began, “Once upon a time, a young man went out to seek his fortune.” But she would have been delighted to discover even one story like that with a female protagonist. Since she never did find the story she was looking for all those years ago, she decided to write it.
In Book I of the trilogy, Tamras arrives in Merin’s house to begin her apprenticeship as a warrior, but her small stature causes many, including Tamras herself, to doubt that she will ever become a competent swordswoman. To make matters worse, the Lady Merin assigns her the position of companion, little more than a personal servant, to a woman who came to Merin’s house, seemingly out of nowhere, the previous winter, and this stranger wants nothing to do with Tamras.

Some people are born lucky. Others make their own luck. As a boy, Hank wanted nothing more than to fly like the fighter pilots he admires in the skies over Amsterdam. He must go into hiding before his sixteenth birthday despite the fact that he is not Jewish.
After the war, his life takes another unexpected turn when he is enlisted by his father in the American Army in Germany where his inability to speak English results in hilarious missteps at every turn. Undaunted, Private Hank evolves into a suave and popular soldier.
