I’m a little confused. Now that the holidays are over, I am getting back into exercising a bit. Not a ton, but a bit. Problem is now I can barely walk. When I do walk, I look like I have no feet. Plus once in a while random body parts give out and I do this weird jiggly dance. I thought exercise would make me faster and stronger and it has actually turned me into the weird alien guy from Men in Black. Including the grunts. I actually brushed my hair today with the arm I could control, because I knew the rest of me was going to be a hot mess. Healthy isn’t exactly what I pictured it would be.

Harlow Bevans was a changeling mermaid working as a diving consultant for the Earthen Conclave. Then he came along. Charybdis. A serial killer who possessed her body and wrecked her mind. Now she’s an inmate — patient — at Edelweiss Mental Institution.

When a haunting song lures her to the scene of a brutal murder, the calm of the past few months is shattered. A fellow patient is dead, and Harlow is caught standing over his body by a mysterious guard who hides his own secrets behind a pair of aviator sunglasses her fingers itch to remove.

Unwilling to be a pawn in another psychopath’s game, Harlow sets out to discover the real killer. What she uncovers makes her a prime target, and the next song she hears could be her last. Curiosity may not have killed the cat, but it just might fillet the mermaid.

With her already full schedule and her grandkids’ upcoming tree fort construction/sleepover, plus trying to plan a fall party at her farm; she calls on the Garden Girls to help her solve the mystery of the missing man.

As the clues are uncovered, they point directly at a lovesick stalker, who also happens to be Gloria’s friend, as the prime suspect. On top of that, there’s also the possibility that perhaps the missing man doesn’t want to be found.

White Spirit (A novel based on a true story)
by James Morcan, Lance Morcan
4.5 Stars (58 Reviews)
Genre: Historical Fiction

FREE for a limited time

Based on the remarkable true story of Irish convict John Graham, WHITE SPIRIT is an epic historical adventure set in 19th Century Australia.

After escaping from the notorious Moreton Bay Penal Settlement, Graham finds refuge with the Kabi, a tribe of Aborigines who eventually accept him as one of their own.

Attempts to recapture Graham are orchestrated by a variety of contrasting characters working for the all-pervasive British Empire. They include Moreton Bay’s tyrannical, opium-addicted commandant Lord Cheetham, the dashing yet warlike Lieutenant Hogan, native tracker Barega and the penal settlement’s captain, Tom Marsden.

Marsden’s young daughter Helen, a progressive lady ahead of her time who is both an egalitarian and a feminist, boldly inserts herself into the clash between the Irish convict, her father and Moreton Bay’s other iron-fisted rulers. Helen complicates things further when she finds herself in a Pride and Prejudice-style love triangle with men on opposite sides of the conflict.

When Scottish woman Eliza Fraser is found shipwrecked and close to death in Kabi territory, Graham and his legion of pursuers, as well as the Irishman’s adopted Aboriginal family, are all forced to navigate a multi-faceted rescue mission. The precarious rendezvous is made all the more dangerous by Helen Marsden’s ethically-driven meddling that often outwits the men involved.

WHITE SPIRIT is not only based on arguably the great Australian (true) story, a sweeping tale that encapsulates all the nuances of the southern continent’s unique history, it also provides readers with detailed insights into the tribal life of First Australian (Aboriginal) peoples.

You can’t go back in love… or can you?

For fans who cried their way through The Fault in Our Stars and fell in love with Eleanor and Park, These Are the Moments is the newest title in young adult and new adult fiction.

“This is the story of Wendy, the girl who is in love with Simon. But it’s really the story of you and that one person who keeps reappearing in your life.” – Christine Frazier of Better Novel Project

Wendy Lake… Big dreams. Small bank account. Back home from college, she’s the girl with the day job, the girl whose mom still packs her lunches, the girl with the memories she can’t shake.

Simon Guidry… The boy who holds her past in his pocket. And maybe her heart, too.

This is the story on-again, off-again Wendy and Simon, told in the now and then of their relationship. As the couple is thrown back into each other’s lives through their friends’ wedding, These Are the Moments dares to ask the questions:

Do people ever really change?

Do two people, who can never make it work, actually make it right?

And most importantly, do they even want to?
