It has been about three years since I have finished the second to last book of a series I absolutely loved. I refuse to read the last one just because I am not ready to break up with the characters I have grown to love over the fifteen or so books. You would think after three years I would have come to grips with the fact that I have to say goodbye, but I haven’t. I may never read that final book. What if I don’t like the way it ends? Then I would be sad and pissy. No, that is a chance I am not willing to take.

My name is Zabdas: husband, warrior, conscience and confidant. I am a son of Syria. I write the history of this country in my own hand and tell the tale of my Zenobia: loyal subject, wilful woman, Queen of the Sands, Protector of People and wife to the King of Kings… Zenobia has won the respect of her people, she has provided King Odenathus with a second son, while he controls Rome’s eastern legions. With Emperor Valerian gone, it is the perfect opportunity for Odenathus to seize the title “Emperor of Rome”. But the war is not yet won. Zenobia and Zabdas have a revenge to exact, the Persians must be pushed back beyond Ctesiphon, and there are other pretenders rising in the east. Odenathus’ loyalties are called upon once more as he struggles to maintain control and quell the uprising. And his accumulation of power has not gone unnoticed…

Genre: Humor & Satire | Literary Fiction | Satire
FREE for a limited time
The Celtic Tiger roars and whimpers in Cunningham’s finely honed satire, set in booming 2006 Ireland, where real estate developer Albert Barr lives the high life and has all his bets on the success of a massively expensive project called Goose Point. It’s backed by HUBBI bank, though its egomaniacal chairman is squeezing Barr for more collateral and the bank itself is so overextended that its future also rests on the success of Goose Point. But the project keeps hitting roadblocks from archeologists who claim the site is a gold mine for Irish history. Barr’s home life isn’t any rosier as he tries to placate his slightly unhinged wife, who happens to be the daughter of a government official who can help Barr get the necessary permits. Then there’s Lee Carew, a struggling journalist who literally stumbles upon something that could shut down the whole project, and the revelation has the potential to destroy a lot more than his career.
