We are back from another great camping trip, and this is one we will definitely mark down as exciting. We spent the entire weekend camping at a campground that had wonderful kid activities to keep the little rascals occupied every second of the day. There was fishing, swimming, mini golf, an arcade, petting zoo, and a jungle gym that I am sure you would get lost in if you weren’t careful. But the big excitement came when my partner in crime’s son and mine found a very large rattle snake right by the stage, where old west actors were about to perform. When they went to “Deal” with the issue they found that there weren’t just one, but two large snakes. Flash forward about two hours and you will find a few adventurous campers trying BBQ’d rattle snake for the first time. Certainly way out of my comfort zone, but I will admit….It tasted like chicken.

It’s never easy changing careers, especially going into teaching and the world of public education.Based on real events, Learn Me Good is the story of a man who did just that. Jack Woodson was a thermal design engineer for four years until he was laid off from his job. Now, as a teacher, he faces new challenges. Conference calls have been replaced with parent conferences. Product testing has given way to standardized testing. Instead of business cards, Jack now passes out report cards. The only thing that hasn’t changed noticeably is the maturity level of the people surrounding him all day. Learn Me Good is Jack’s hilarious first-person account of his harrowing rookie year, written as a series of emails to Fred Bommerson, his engineering buddy. With subject lines such as “Irritable Vowel Syndrome,” “In math class, no one can hear you scream,” and “I love the smell of Lysol in the morning,” Jack fills each email with sarcastic observations, insightful comments, and plenty of irreverent wit.
