My friend has an addiction to mud. This of course makes Christmas shopping for her pretty darn easy, but it also makes my legs hurt. This is the same friend that I took to Tough Mudder, the 10 mile, 20 obstacle event. I was worried that she might hate me for taking to her such a grueling event, but it has been just the opposite. She has now signed us up for another event in October, and last night she found an additional event that looked pretty fun. I just might have to cut back on the Lucky Charms if I have any hope of surviving the month of October.

The immortal Sherlock Holmes solves eleven unforgettable mysteries
These stories, originally published in the Strand Magazine, follow Holmes from the astonishing heights of his deductive powers to the bottom of a treacherous gorge in Switzerland. “Silver Blaze,” a case that famously hinges on the “curious incident of the dog in the night-time,” finds the detective employing his singular imagination to locate a missing racehorse. In “The Greek Interpreter,” Holmes and his brilliant older brother, Mycroft, team up to put an end to a diabolical extortion scheme. And, most notoriously, criminal mastermind Professor Moriarty makes his first appearance in “The Final Problem,” a story that begins with the discovery of a secret criminal organization overtaking England, and ends on a cliff overlooking the Reichenbach Falls. With a heavy heart, Dr. Watson tells the world what no one wants to hear: Holmes and his archenemy have plunged to their deaths together, locked in mortal combat.
This legendary collection, which Arthur Conan Doyle intended to bring a fitting end to the Sherlock Holmes saga, also includes “The Musgrave Ritual,” “The Reigate Puzzle,” “The Crooked Man,” and “The Resident Patient.” Each of these eleven stories is now recognized as a masterpiece of crime fiction, and a clear indication that the peerless sleuth was not yet ready to leave the stage for good.
This ebook features a new introduction by Otto Penzler and has been professionally proofread to ensure accuracy and readability on all devices.

Discover Aster Wood, the new series of middle grade fantasy books for young teens and adults alike!
A heart condition and a jerk of a father meant twelve-year-old Aster Wood had plenty of problems to deal with already. They were the complaints of a human kid with a broken family and an uncertain future.
But now, stranded on another planet, it turns out Aster’s not quite as human as he, and everyone around him, believed. On the planets within the Maylin Fold, Aster’s ancestors have a long history of magical dealings, and he’s the last in the line who can solve the riddle of where the famous sorcerer, Almara, disappeared to two hundred years ago.
But Cadoc, the raving commander who has long sought to stamp out all knowledge of Almara, has caught wind of Aster’s plans. He joins the hunt, only it’s Aster he seeks. If he can’t sway the boy to unite with him, then his head on a spike will have to do.
Aster needs to get back to Earth, now.
Unfortunately, Cadoc seems to be the only Mayliner with the power to send him home. Without the tyrant’s help, any chance of seeing the fractured remains of his family again will evaporate, and he could be trapped in Maylin forever.
Aster is certain that finding Almara is the key to making his way home, if he, or any of his followers, are still alive.
But Cadoc draws ever closer, and the madman’s noose grows tighter around Aster’s neck with each step he takes along the trail Almara left behind.
Aster Wood and the Lost Maps of Almara is the first book of five in the action-packed Aster Wood series, perfect for a middle school adventure reader. These books for middle grade will leave you hungry for the next!
