Oh dear, is all I have to say this morning. I took Nyquil last night and this morning is a fog. My kitty might have thought I was having a staring contest with her, but I was just asleep with my eyes open. Poor kitty, she will need eye drops to recover from that one. I started off with a horror this morning to get the blood flowing. Enjoy!

When 13-year-old Osmond “Oz” Griffith wakes from an illness on the floor of his closet, he discovers the world overrun by man-eating monsters, the Takers, and it’s largely his fault. In an effort to make things right, he gathers a band of survivors (a baby, an aged mechanic and a talking gorilla, among others), and sets off down his version of the yellow brick road, leading to the Atlanta Zoo. Along the way, he learns that his destiny was written by Steve, a boy from his past. Afflicted with Down Syndrome, Steve created new worlds, replete with battles between good and evil, in the comic books that served as his sole refuge from the teasing of Oz and his friends. Steve’s untimely suicide leaves only the comic books as clues to vanquishing the Takers.

Hidden for decades in the most unlikely of places, a handwritten note, related to a tragic mystery that has persisted for twenty-five years, is discovered, quite accidentally. The simple note was clearly addressed to Chad Swan, but was it intended to convey some deeper message to Chad or does it simply indicate his guilt?
And is there some connection between the note and the larger conspiracy that had made Chad a fugitive even before the note was discovered?
What role will Chad’s 22-year-old daughter, Morgan, play in unraveling the mystery and what dangers await her? If there is some deeper meaning to the brief, two-sentence, seemingly inconsequential note, will the forces of good be able to decipher it? Will you? And to what dark corners will the dreadful truth ultimately lead?

A Journey Through the Refiner’s Fire
Disowned, she came to America anyway. Attacked and left pregnant by a vicious mob, she still pressed on. Finally, in spite of being accused of theft by the vilest of her attackers, Giselle tries to remain as upbeat and uncomplaining as a prairie wildflower as she travels on to Zion.
Thoroughly disillusioned with the ugliness and cruelty of slavery in the South, Trace Grayson leaves his young medical career to go west, hoping to leave bigotry and hatred behind. He begins taking goods by teamster train to sell in the territories. However, this fourth time across, in July of 1848, he’s stuck in St. Joseph, Missouri, waiting for enough wagons to join the train so that they can leave.
Knowing that if they don’t start west soon, they’ll be caught by snow in the mountains, Trace is thrilled when the final wagon signs on. Then, when the beautiful, young Dutch girl traveling with the last wagon is falsely accused of stealing and is detained, the whole trip is jeopardized. Thrown together by circumstance, Trace and Giselle team up to begin to figure out just how to make this epic journey across a continent a success.
With a deep sense of honor and an equally strong sense of humor, together they learn to deal with everything except the one trial that neither of them can overcome.
